ABSTRACT. Seed dispersal of Alchornea glandulosa (Euphorbiaceae) by birds in a gallery forest in São Paulo, southeastern Brazil. I identifi ed
the bird species consuming fruits of Alchornea glandulosa (Euphorbiaceae) in a gallery forest in São Manuel, state of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil.
Twenty bird species in fi ve families of the order Passeriformes were recorded. In total, 192 visits were recorded during which 746 fruits were consumed,
with an average of 9,4 visits and 36,5 fruits consumed per hour. The main potential seed disperser was Thraupis sayaca, but Tersina viridis had the
greatest rate of fruit consumption, followed by Turdus albicollis, T. leucomelas and Myiodynastes maculatus. Few aggressive encounters were recorded,
being Thraupis sayaca the most aggressive species.
